Looking for treasures

We don't need to look for treasure. We need to learn how to see the treasure.
After years, often we realize that treasures were all around us in the past. Bu we did not see them. Or we didn't want to see them.

What matters?

It is absolutely not important how big or small the result you want to achieve, or the problem you want to solve. Why? Just to remind: according to statistics, 100% of people die. No result matters. No size matters. Result is one for everyone: death. Only process matters.
Thus, our task is just to find way in which process will bring pleasure. I don't know the 100% formula for resolving problems with pleasure. But certain components could be:
  • Like-minded people. It is easier to fight against enemy, if another people also suffered from the same enemy. I. e. you are not alone.
  • what else?

New movie style?

As an experiment, it would be interesting to create/watch movie in following style:
The screen will be divided into different parts according to cameras positions. Simultaneously, we can see movement of hero for example in profile and full face.

:)))

In 2007, Nokia was quoted as saying about Android: "we don't see this as a threat".

Principles of time management:

  1. Concentration. Non-interrupted work on the problem increases efficiency thanks to accumulated information about the problem in the brain cache (temporary) memory. Interruption makes it difficult to come back to the problem solution next time.
  2. Simultaneously doing "must" and "want". There are a lot of problems we meet during our life. They result in "must" tasks. We should do them anyway. If we have long term illness, we must attend a doctor. Otherwise we could die. Every morning we must go to the toilet. Otherwise... you better don't think what could happen.. I "want" to write a code. However I "must" sig in the toilet for a long time e. g. because I did eat something bad. The obvious solution is to sit in the toilet with the laptop.
  3. Don't allow "must" tasks to take a control over my life. If I work the full time job that I don't like, I should spend there only hours necessary to survive (pay rent and get groceries). Not more. The ideal way is to get "must" work simultaneously committing "want" tasks. E. g. night security guard who is not busy enough with his main duties.
  4. To be continued

Mental treatment against stress is dreaming.

Just start to dream. Think about something you want to have. Imagine you have a magic hat and there are no obstacles to have what you want. And then imagine you have it.
Most people do not allow themselves to dream because they realize restrictions and obstacles they cannot manage. And this causes stress also: understanding that your expectations do not match reality.
Start dreaming.

Apply binary tree search to bug fix

Disclaimer: tag for this post is "humor" :)
Imagine you cannot launch code step-by-step. And you have no server log. After build, application does not show up. And we need to find bug place in code.
Binary tree says:

  • Comment half of the code
  • Build and launch app again
  • If it still does not show up, comment half of remaining half of the code.
  • Etc :)

If you are boring to talk to another person

Just start telling about your problems and dreams. You mood will change and interest to talk will come. Most people are concerned about whether their problems or desires.

Brain power

Our brain analyzes terabytes of data every second just by observing and hearing surrounding environment: sky, buildings, other people...
Why can't it do the same while we read the simple text in the book? Why can we read no more than 1Kb per hour?

Cause of stress

Stress is caused by decision taking. To take a decision we need to:
- compute risks
- spend time on gathering information about all the choices possible
- take responsibility for the decision taken
How to avoid that? Just simple daily planning. Every day, create a plan for the next day. Then on the next day, we can think less, take decisions less (because we should not decide where to spend every minute of time). Instead of stressing ourselves, we can concentrate on the current important tasks and their performance.

Thank you Stress

Relief of stress is physical exercise. So the more stress we have the more exercises we do to relief it. The more exercises we do the more beautiful and healthy our body becomes.
This, the more stress we have the more healthy and beautiful we become.
Thank you stress!

Pillars of motivation

I assume the following should be considered as pillars of motivation. All of them should be necessary for a person to be motivated doing something. All of them should surround person, interact with him.

  1. Person who is better than me. He shows me that result of work is possible if I will work hard and will become as good as he is.
  2. Person, who is worse than me (from the point of view of qualification). He shows, that I have a preference in comparison to others to start doing something. I have a potential.
  3. Person having unresolved problem. And result of my work could help him. He can buy result of my work. He needs it.

Thus, in other terms, we can list pillars like this:

  1. Possibility.
  2. Potential.
  3. Need.

Did I miss something?

Idea for scenario: parents educate random children, not their own

Imagine future world, different from that we have today. Future of child is no longer defined by history of his parents. Children are born and distributed randomly among parents in all over the world. Each parent educates random child. No ownership, no maternity. Just process of education. Each parent should educate 1 random child minimum.
Btw, I do not share this idea in real life and I would like to be parent for my child. However, this could be a good idea for scenario of a fantastic book.

How to convert feelings to actions

If you feel that:
- It is to earlier: do it now. Usually we postpone some non-convenient but very useful activities. Preparing for university exam, etc.
- It is to be done now: wait. Usually we feel to do something right now only if it gives us pleasure and harm only. Or we just don't have enough information about consequences. E. g. if you see shining but used auto, I would like to buy it now just because it is beatiuful. But I should buy it later, spending some time looking under the hood.
- It is to late: do it now. It is never late for anything to do.

Managing calendar

Just got an idea about google calendar. Note it could be MS Outlook calendar or Lotus Calendar or whatever. All of them have the same format.
I divide all the tasks for the day in 3 groups:
  1. To do sitting with computer and using Internet
  2. Meetings and calls
  3. At home (cleaning, buying etc)
But Google calendar does not have such option to divide these groups:
Instead, it offers to highlight tasks by different colors. However, it is time-consuming option. Especially, if you use it over the phone.
So, for me as at now the best option is to choose time frames for each group:
  1. Night is for Internet tasks. I am sure that no other tasks will be assigned for night, until 8-9 am. No meetings are appointed at night.
  2. Day is for meetings and calls.
  3. Evening is for homework. Of course, I can do some homework earlier. But in this case evening means just 3rd group tasks, not the evening time.

Good teacher

What is the difference between bad, good and excellent teachers?
  • Bad teacher provides to student right answer to student's question based on right knowledge. That decreases student's independence. Because in the future, the student will not be able to find an answer without teacher.
  • Good teacher does not provide to student any answer to student's question. Maybe because teacher is not qualified enough and thus he just does not know the answer. But he is still good teacher. Because he implicitly forces student to find answer without teacher. In the future, such student will become self-sufficient professional.
  • Excellent teacher does not provide to student any answer to student's question as well. But there is one thing making him not only good but excellent teacher. In response to student's question this teacher also asks student a question. Thus, he forces student not only to become self-sufficient, but to learn a right way.

Filming

People tell I usually make to big prelude before something, before anything: story telling, explanation, preparation for something etc.
Now I understood where I can apply my "talent": scenario writing

Scenario...

I have a lot of ideas for scenarios. But no one plot has final. Why? I can easily generate new ideas for new plots. But cannot complete any...
Should I work more?
Or should I wait more?
Or I am just perfectionist and always try seeking for something original, avoiding repeat of existing stuff?

Biorobots

As a humans we have same structure of bones, muscles, body.
We have same stages of mind and consciousness development.
We have same needs, instincts and fears.
If no accident happens, we live similar average number of years.
We are 100% biorobots.
